Roy's Fantasy
"My Fantasy Came True"
While you and I were getting dressed this morning, brushing our teeth and drinking our morning coffee, we didn?t think twice about how blessed we were to do such things. We just did them all the while a million things were going through our minds of what we were to accomplish, errands to run and maybe even a dreaded lunch date.
However, for nineteen-year-old Roy Wright, his day has nothing similar in store for him.  Roy depends on someone else to wake him, dress him, brush his teeth, comb his hair and feed
him.  Roy has the debilitating disease, Cerebral Palsy.  This disease prevents Roy from having a normal life like the one you and I know.  Roy is unable to walk, unable to communicate his thoughts through speech, and even unable to hold his head up.  He is sharp as a tack, though, and is about to graduate from high school.
At birth, Roy was abandoned by his parents at the hospital.  His grandmother, who is now disabled with diabetes and in a wheelchair, took on the incredible responsibility to raise Roy by herself.  She has devoted her life to caring for him since the day he was born.  She is Roy?s angel!
Roy is rich in that he has many angels.  One of which is a gentleman named Stan Kesler who volunteers his time and resources to help kids like Roy.  Stan has a wheelchair accessible van that he unselfishly uses to take Roy to his doctor appointments and any other place he may need to go
FantasyKids.com was referred to Roy from a physical therapist who said he never gets to do anything fun.  When we were told about Roy and his incredible determination,we felt that we could
do something he would be truly excited about.  We learned that aside from pretty girls, Roy has a love for country music!
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo happened to be in town and we received a donation of tickets to see a very talented and generous entertainer, Pat Green. FantasyKids.com arranged for backstage passes for a face-to-face meeting with Pat Green himself as well as complimentary CD?s and autographs for both Roy and his brother.
Green was pleased to meet them.  In fact, the moment he saw Roy motor up in his power wheelchair he had his bouncers move the baracades so Roy could sit right in front of everyone in attendance. He then zeroed in on Roy, kidded around with him and autographed his T-shirt and CD.

Roy was extremely excited!  He was able to visit for an extended time with 100% focus from the celebrity.  It was magical to see the  ear-to-ear grin on Roy?s face as he was treated like royalty!  He simply couldn?t stop smiling!  Pat Green was as gracious and as hospitable as he could be to Roy.  It is rare that a star pay that much extraordinary attention for anyone, but he did.  Roy will never forget it!

The night was not over, but that was indeed the highlight.  He loved the concert that followed!

Prior to the meeting and concert, Roy and his brother enjoyed watching the bull riding and wagon races.  They even ate one of those huge turkey legs!

Let there be no doubt that it was a night that Roy will not soon forget.  Stan, the volunteer who was in attendance, said, ?When he looked at Roy at the end of the evening, even though Roy can?t speak, he didn?t have to, his smile said it all!?

Kim and Todd,

I was at New Caney High School on Tuesday and here comes Roy in his power chair and he has a grin from ear to ear. On his tray were his pictures from his "Rodeo Fantasy". He was so excited and couldn't wait for me to see the pictures. How awesome for Roy. And...to see Pat Green in person and get his autograph and picture meant so much to Roy.

Thank you so very much!
